About YALETOWN

Mission Statement

Yaletown's corporate mission is to become a vertically integrated production company developing and producing the highest quality film and High Definition television (HDTV) product for distribution to the international media marketplace.

Yaletown is a significant Canadian producer of documentary television programming using the High Definition format.

High Definition

Yaletown's focus is the development and production of television series using the latest in High Definition technologies.

Yaletown was the first independent producer in Canada to acquire its own High Definition video equipment.

Management of Yaletown believes that the change from a 3:4 ratio screen size in low definition format to the new 9:16 ratio screen size in High Definition format will revolution the television industry and will impact viewers in the same manner as the change from black-and-white to colour.

By embracing High Definition technologies early Yaletown became well positioned within the field of High Definition television production and ensured that its High Definition television series would have a maximum shelf life.

Vertical Integration

Vertical integration by the acquisition of pre- and post- production service companies benefits Yaletown in three ways:

a) diversification of activities,
b) increased revenues and profits, and
c) ready access to facilities for the production of low cost pilot episodes.

Yaletown began the process of vertically integrating its production with post-production services by investing in High Definition video cameras and related decks.

Yaletown then acquired Pilot-West Productions Ltd., an equipment rental company that provides digital cameras to the film and television market, and Post-Digital Works Ltd., a provider of high-end non-linear video editing systems and services.

Post-Digital and Pilot-West will continue to provide services to third party producers while Yaletown adds to their revenues from within its indigenous television and feature film productions.

Service Production

Yaletown also acts as a service producer for non-British Columbian companies. During 2000 Yaletown produced thirteen episodes of New Classics with Rob Feenie for Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting's Food Network Canada. Revenues are derived from production fees and from the provision of necessary services by related companies within the vertically integrated group of companies.
